
Just sat in the sun at Bridlington harbour and eaten a bag of shrimps (the evidence is above). Fiddly but very good! Here's a thought: Did I use more energy peeling them to eat, than I actually gained from them? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm sure their total energy balance (e.g. effort to catch, cook, transport, package, keep cool and sell must be negative. That's probably also true for a lot of the food we buy. How can it be economic to transport apples from New Zealand, or asparagus from Peru? At least the shrimps were locally caught.
