Bumblebee nest dug out by a badger ~ grubs and honey, mmmm yummy! A few bee survivors looking aimlessly lost when I first found it, all gone later.

Early Warning

Early warning station of the cold war era, built overlooking the North Sea on the clifftop of the Flamborough headland. The vertical concrete pillars are part of a radar system pointing east and there is also a substantial subterranean network of tunnels and rooms - all now defunct and sealed up.

Old Lighthouse at Flamborough

The old lighthouse at Flamborough was built in the 17th century. It was intended that a fire be lit on the top to warn shipping of Flamborough Head (projecting into the North Sea), but there is no record of it ever being used. The modern automated light nearer the cliffs is much more effective!
