My 7 year old canary has been bald for the past year or more. When it first happened, I suspected mites (even though there was no other sign of them), so treated for parasites, but to no avail. Then, lo and behold, discovered canaries suffer male pattern genetic baldness in some strains, just as humans do. How odd - but at least he doesn't look in a mirror, so doesn't realise. Probably just thinks: "Global warming, what global warming? Its colder now than ever" If canaries think - but they certainly blush when excited!
