Whitby Lighthouses

Lighthouses at the entrance to Whitby harbour. The larger tower on the left (West Pier) was built in 1831 and the smaller one (East Pier) in 1855.  Both were replaced by the harbour lights on the wooden pier extensions in 1914, West Pier showing a green light,  East Pier a red one. The lights are visible for about three miles in clear conditions.   Oh dear, am I becoming a lighthouse spotter? Don't answer that!
