Giant windturbine blade installed in Victoria Square Hull for the next three months as part of the exhibitions for city of culture. It is the largest single piece fibreglass object ever made.

Sign in House of Fraser in Hull. It's design and durability (or lack of it) seem typical of the era. We gave up the sixties for this, and things didn't really get any better afterwards....

Derelict Humber Dock



The entrance to the old St. Andrew's Dock on the Humber. It was from here that the North Sea fishing fleet once sailed but the main dock is now filled in and has become an out of town shopping park. Only the entrance and these derelict quayside buildings remain -  but maybe not for much longer. There are plans for a wind farm facility to make and install turbines in the North Sea. From fish to wind, but still a maritime enterprise.

Minus 14








So cold Hull's fountain's frozen. But even colder at home, where we reached a record low of minus 14 C.  I guess that's what comes of living near the North Sea - winds straight from the Arctic....
