Phacelia tenacetifolia growing on disturbed soil.  Originally from south western USA and Mexico, it is also widely grown in gardens, for bees, and as a green manure in agriculture, which explains its presence in East Yorkshire.

Yellow Corydalis

Corydalis lutea, a member of the same plant family as poppies, growing wild in York.  Originally an Alpine plant, it is not native, but a garden escapee.

Pyramidal Orchid

Growing in a roadside verge near Bishopthorpe.

Sansevaria Flower

A rare event, a flower on a mother-in-laws tongue.  Has a very strong but delicate sweet scent, but only at night, not during the day.

Greater Knapweed

Sometimes known as hardheads - as children, we used to pick a long stem then clear the leaves and hit someone over the head with it.  Wonder which came first, name or usage?  This plant was growing at the side of a field, not such a common sight now due to widespread use of weedkillers in agriculture.
