Misericord
Medieval (C14) misericord from St Mary's Church, Beverley, showing bear baiting. Different view of cruelty then, though the bear seems to be wearing leather breeches the dogs have no protection. Poor animals.

Queen Isabella
She-wolf of France, queen to Edward ll. Carved boss in Beverley Minster, reputed to be one of only two true contemporaneous likenesses.

White Rabbit
St. Mary's Church, Beverley: Carved on the doorway from the Chapel to the Sanctuary is this pilgrim rabbit. It is reputed to be the inspiration for Tenniel's illustration of the White Rabbit in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
